What is NOSafeMode? It is the LEGAL and ELEGANT way to Disable F8, Disable Safe Mode and Disable Advanced Boot Options in Windows NT™ based Operating Systems (Including Windows 2000™, Windows XP™ and Windows Vista™)

Why should I use NOSafeMode? Currently Microsoft® offers no way to prevent access to their boot menu, leaving the computer with an open door for unauthorized users to gain access to settings, files and your valuable information.

How did the idea for this tool come about? The idea for this application came when in fact I found no way to properly secure the boot process of a Windows™ machine that did not involve an illegal “Hack”, that did not “Break” the normal operation of the machine, and that did not have a complex and intricate process for locking and unlocking a system.

What are the requirements for this application? This simple tool is less than 60Kb* in size, it should run in any Windows NT™, Windows 2000™, XP™, Windows XP embedded™ and Window Vista™. Note: For some windows versions, you may have to install the Microsoft Visual Basic 6 Runtime Files.

Does it modify my Operating System Files? NO. This tool was designed to be 100% legal and as such, it does not modify, edit, replace or remove any operating system files.

Does it modify my Operating System Settings? NO. This tool was designed to work independent of Operating System settings and as such, it does not modify, edit, replace or remove any settings or registry data.

How long does the Lock/Unlock process take? The Lock/Unlock process takes merely seconds, and can be automated by using of command line parameters for your convenience.

How long does the Lock protection last? The Lock will remain in place indefinitely until you choose to unlock it or until you completely re-install the Operating System on the machine.

Does it use any memory or hard disk space? NO. This tool simply sets up your computer in a one-time process after which you don’t need to have it running or even saved in the computer for it to continue working. In fact I recommend you do not leave a copy of the software in the machine in order to prevent attempts to remove the Lock from the machine.

Does it protect my computer from Hackers, Viruses and other Intrusions? NO. This tool is meant to aid in securing a machine from unauthorized access of users during the boot process of the operating system. It is HIGHLY recommended that you perform additional protective measures against Hackers, Viruses and other intrusions, including but not limited to those:

· Setup BIOS to Boot only from your Main Hard Drive

· Setup BIOS Password

· Install an Anti-Virus software and maintain it up-to-date

· Install a Firewall software

· Limit access to your operating system files to prevent tempering with files and settings

My Anti-Virus software is showing a warning when I execute this software, why? The software uses of low level functions to setup the machine so the boot option keys can not be used when starting the machine. It is normal that some anti-virus software may warn the user of such activity as the same functions could be exploited by a virus to gain/limit access to the machine. You should take the necessary measures to allow this application to apply the changes to the machine, or disable the anti-virus momentarily when locking or unlocking the machine.

What are the command-line parameters available for this tool? For the more advanced/expert user or those users needing a solution that can be integrated with their packaged install, those are the command line parameters available for this tool:

To Lock without a password (NOT recommended):

NOSafeMode.exe /lock

To Lock with a password (Passwords should be up to 8 characters only):

NOSafeMode.exe /lock password

To Unlock without a password (If Locked without a password):

NOSafeMode.exe /Unlock

To Unlock with a password (If Locked with a password):

NOSafeMode.exe /Unlock password

How Long until my order is delivered? Your order will be delivered on the first business day after your order has been processed. The delivery will be in the form of an email (as provided with your order) as an attachment, and can be re-delivered upon request by providing the ordering information. Unfortunately we do not dispose of an automated order-delivery system and each order has to be processed and verified manually.
